Teach Soap

I will be doing my first Christmas Craft Fair this year and I need help on how many choices of scents that I might need to offer? I will be doing Bath Salts, Sugar Scrubs and Bath Bombs. I want to offer some with essential oils and then some with some fun fragrance oils. Also, has anyone ever mixed up the bath salts while the person is there? I was thinking that way you would not use up so much essential oils and run the risk of having alot leftover. Just thinking of a way that may save on some of the high dollar essential oils.

I wouldn't mix it up on the spot due to unsanitary workspace conditions. Push comes to shove, make up however much in a smaller batch and if you have to, take orders and declare a pickup spot & time for another day if they're local (or ask for $5 for shipping costs) if you really really want the sales. But I really wouldn't do it on the spot.

Plus, if you are the only one at your booth, if you're busy mixing up a bunch of bath salts, you run the (sort of big) risk of losing potential customers who just want to pay for something and be on their way and don't really want to wait around however long for you to finish mixing up x number of bath salt orders.

I would pick no more than 3 scents of each ( holiday ones ) or your best selling soap scents and go with small batches. What doesn't sell you can give as gifts.Next year you'll have a better idea of what to make.

How long has this fair been in business, how well is it advertised and how many people do they expect to attend? That would give you a better idea how many scents or how much product to bring. Will there be other crafters there selling a similar product(s)?

The fair is done every year at a very large church. Not sure how many people usually attend. It is in a very upscale area. I guess I just call them and ask.


Also, is there a trick to getting two halves of a round bath bomb to stay together? I used one for the first time over the weekend and the halves will not stay together

To answer your last question about the bath bombs, if you pack them really tight, over fill them and then press them together until the two sides of the mold meet then hold them like that for 30-45 seconds it should work. I also found the best way to get them out is to hold one side and let it just slide out under it's own weight. Good luck!
