Wow, I haven't been to this thread for a while - way behind on my soap porn fix actually
Anita - those celtic molds are divine. I especially love the rectangle "celtic knot" (is that what it's called?) What kind of soap did you use to get such sharp relief of the designs? My understanding is that isn't always easy to do!
BAMA - You've been soaping like mad! The column swirl soap is amazing. And that was your first one??? Oh and I want some of those preserves in the background too
Jenova - don't you love the smell of honey/oatmeal soap all on its own? When you said it smelled like graham crackers that made total sense because my own milk 'n honey (and oat) soap smelled like that too but I couldn't think of what that yummy smell was except maybe cookies! It does fade but then in the shower you can smell it faintly again. It's one of my favorite soaps. You seem to have a knack for scrumptious looking soap I have to say.
Sunnyside - I thought of cake too when I saw those lemon/vanilla soaps! Even if they turn a darker color I think they'll still look great and match the vanilla scent. Yum!
Okay, so I cut some soaps tonight myself and so far I'm soooo happy with them. These are the soaping moments I live for!
If the pic is too small for you below (I cannot figure out how to upload a larger pic that doesn't have a too-big file size) ... here's a link to a bigger version:
http://twitpic.com/6awfv3I made two batches simultaneously, one plain/white batch and one purple batch using alkanet/OO infusion. Then I poured off some of each color for the top color of the "other" color (make sense? LOL). The white one set up too fast on me so I didn't get to "drag" any of it into the one with a purple layer on top (boo!). I need to really learn to soap cooler because my soaps run away on me. I think the combo of the heat and the stronger lavender EO concentration caused this. The mostly purple soap with white topping I scented with a combo of lavender and patchouli ... one of my favorite combos so far.
Thanks again to soapbuddy for responding to my other post so quickly tonight! I ended up unmolding and cutting at just the right moment!
