I would like to learn more about essential oils and instead of just reading lots of stuff online (which I'm not sure whether to trust or not!), I'd like some book recommendations. Any reputable titles/authors I should consider?

Robert Tisserand Essential Oil Safety is a good one. Are you after constituents of essential oils, safety or blending?

The book is more technical. It doesn't go into details like past medicinal uses. For the lay person, try Valerie Worwood, Julia Lawless or Marcel Lavabre.

I have to agree with soapbuddy's suggestions, Julia Lawless has a few, try a web site called alibris for (supposedly) cheap books, and you sound like me, I am very skeptical of a lot of internet info, but I do usually peruse this link: http://www.aromaweb.com/essentialoils/default.asp and this one: http://www.naturesgift.com/descript.htm I hope these web sites are of some help!
