Teach Soap

As some of you may or may not know the last time I was really active on here I was pregnant with my first child, a little girl! Well, my little bundle was due on election day, however she decided to grace us with her presence 8 days early during Hurricane Sandy. Sophia Abigail Pine was born on October 29, 2012 at 8:33pm weighing 8.2lbs and 21 inches long.

I've been loving life as a new mom and am still trying to figure out a routine for us. Since Sophia was born I've made one batch of soap. My boyfriend is adament about me selling my creations come the Spring, but I keep telling him there's a lot that needs to be done before I can start selling. Most importantly I need to set aside time to make soap, but it's too hard since I can't stop admiring my daughter!

On another note, I am one step closer to actually becoming Mrs. Pine...my boyfriend proposed to me on Christmas so I'm engaged!!

2012 was really a great year for us. Sophia is our little miracle baby because I was diagnosed in 2011 with blocked fallopian tubes so the only way for me to get pregnant is through IVF. Thankfully I got pregnant after the first cycle and my beautiful little girl is finally here! I still can't believe she is my little girl and that I'm her mommy...such an incredible experience and feeling!!!!

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I didn't soap when my kids were little- I've only started now that my littlest is almost 3. I'm trying to think of ways to soap with a little one- there is always nap time and baby swings. I also wonder about wearing a little one on your back (with a wrap or an ergo or a mei tai- no the baby carrier not the drink). I go back and forth weather that would be safe- their little hands are out of the way but little feet do stick out. It would be effective- I've cleaned my whole house with a baby on my back!

I wouldn't soap with the baby in the area, because if you use a stick blender, there's a chance of flying raw soap batter. Or there's the possibility that you could accidentally splash lye & it could splash on them.
I've got 5 kids, ages 1, 3, 6, 9 & 11. I've been CP'ing since the 6 yr old was a little baby. It can be hard to find time to soap. I usually get all of my soaping supplies out the night before, including measuring out my oils & butters. Then I get up before everyone & do my soaping. I also soap during nap time & put up gates to the kitchen so they can't get in.

Thank you so much everyone! The only batch I've made since Sophia was born is MP & her daddy was watching her, thankfully!
