Teach Soap

I am new to making soap and I apologize if this has already been asked. I could not find the topic. We have VERY hard water where I live and I tried a bar of the goat milk soap and it does not seem to be very moisturizing compared to the Dove soap that we have been using. I feel dry and itchy after using it. Is there anything i can add to the MP soaps to give it a little more moisturizing qualities?

Can I ask what the ingredients are that are in the goat milk soap you are using?

You can add some oil or butter (less than 1 oz of oil/butter per lb of goat milk soap), but I honestly don't feel that adding butters/oils helps very much since it all pretty much gets washed down the drain when you're using it. I think you'd have better luck finding a soap base that doesn't dry out your skin instead.

I ordered the goat milk MP base from Brambleberry. Is there another type that is better or another brand? What does everyone else use? I had bought some clear MP from Rustic Essentuals earlier but I have not used any of that brand for myself yet. I think Rustic Essentuals was a little more expensive so i re-ordered from Brambleberry.

I would try a rebatch base from BrambleBerry and add a little bit of extra oil or butter. That way you don't need to worry about lye.

You could also try Bramble Berry's MP sampler pack. Its a great way to try several different bases to see which you like best. I really liked the hemp base.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I made up about 1-1/2 lbs of the bramble berry clear MP AND added one tablespoon of olive oil and it seems to have made a lot of difference.
