Making the Liquid Soap Guru kit. I've just hit 30 mins in the first stirring phase. When is the soap more "safe" to leave out? I know it has to hit that point and then sit overnight. I will have it covered but am wondering if it's still toxic at that point (cats etc).

And of course - how much longer to stir!! LOL

Everything got thick before the 1 hour mark. I let it cook almost 15 minutes and it wasn't separating.

I'm in the cook phase now - but at hour 4 and no translucence!

This is just the standard recipe she posts in the video (but I halved it), olive and castor

I did but I should double check it. Total weight is the oils?

Mine took about 5 hours total till it was done

5 hours to cook?

I think I figured out what I did. Dumb me for having the original instructions in front of me in addition to the other stuff.

I managed to do 4 oz of castor instead of 2.

Then in an extreme act of brilliance, I have about 5 oz too much water.

Sheesh. Now what?

I give up. 10 hours.

Is there hope at continuing tomorrow? I let it in the crock pot (turned off)

When should it stop zapping, after dilution?

So afraid to try again in then morning as there is a hike is really like tomdo at 1:30

I would get some liquid phenopthalein. I superfat my liquid soap right up front at 2-3%. I doesn't zap after the cook, even as a paste.

Where can I find that? I thought I had ph strips but I don't.

I found a blog from someone who cooks for three days. I do have borax I can neutralize with

I figured out what's did. When I converted everything to grams, I used the original lye number. So I have about twice as much lye as I should.

Can I add more oils and reblend?

Poo! But probably the best choice. It's been cooking a long time

Dump the soap right in the trash instead of down the drain?
