Teach Soap

I'm thinking of swapping out jojoba oil for pomace olive oil to keep my prices reasonable. I've read that it they have similar properties. Has anyone used pomace olive oil in their products? What is your opinion on it?

They are very different in soap. You can't sub one for the other one straight across. They also have different SAP values. Where do you find inexpensive jojoba? I use it in skin care and the price is crazy high right now. I use plain olive in soap, but not pomace. Pomace traces too fast for me.

I haven't been able to find any jojoba that is inexpensive, that's why I was thinking of subbing pomace for it in my scrubs and lotions. I love the feel of jojoba, but good lord its pricey! I've never tried pomace. I'm just curious how it would do in non-soap items.

I find olive oil in creams and lotions too heavy in feel for my type of skin. I like coconut, almond, grapeseed, apricot kernel.

I've tried it my lotions, but it is very heavy. I'd rather use sweet almond or rice bran. I do use the pomace in my hand salves, which I want to be heavier than lotions.

I use olive oil in lip balm and lotion bars, and it works well--but both of those are for "heavy" moisture anyway. In other things, I've been using rice bran oil, which is nice, or grapeseed. I worry a little about the shelf life of grapeseed, since it can be short, though. I use Vit E in everything, which certainly helps prevent rancidity.
