Can it be done?

I've got a lovely goatsmilk cold process loaf and it just looks plain to me....it is 48 hours in to cure. Can I melt and pour glycerine soap on top for a nice layered effect? Or will the melt and pour melt the cold process soap as I suspect?

Is it possible?

At the point where you are at now, the naswer is no. It will not stick.

You can do MP to CP at the same time. The both need to melt to stick together.

Ok...here are the promised pictures. I think I cut too early on the end piece that bled...because all these came out perfect. I will bevel these too...I am noticing the glycerin is sweating on the tops? This will go away right???

Oh and the cp recipe was olive, canola, coconut, palm, and a smidge of apricot kernel oil, Goatsmilk also...I prevented the gel stage. They came out so creamy looking.

And yes...the canola did make my batch seep/sweat a little...not bad though. I'm thinking this is why the tops of the glycerin are sweating??

wow! they really look great!!!

I was thinking about somthing similar to this last night. I'd use mp just because it would be easier than making several tiny batches of cp. But over the "just set up cp in a slab mold".........I want to take several colors of mp soap......and just make swirlies and squigglies and other odd lines and not necessarily a design (although that is a great idea too!) but just kind of willy nilly all over the place. Spraying with alcohol in between each of the new colors.......and then after all the colorful squiglies are set up, then do a thin overpour of clear mp just to sort of set it and hold it in place.

Think that would work? I'm sure I didnt describe this too well, but I can see it perfectly in my head.......lol

the only time I've mixed the mp with the cp before was in my Whirligigs soap. I love putting mp through the salad shooter because it curls it just perfectly. and then I embedded that in the cp.

the green whirlies are done in pears & champagne. the orange in dreamsicle. holding it all together in pale yellow is tart lemon. then the peachy colored top layer is mango papaya. Smells rather delish and it was fin to do and fun to use.....

^^^That is BEAUTIFUL!! I had a dream about making a soap like that! I know, a dream? Does that mean I'm a bona fide addict? :P

naturescauldron...those are beautiful! SALAD shooter...HA...I love that. I'll have to find one at a yard sale and put it in my soaping box.

Here are the tops of my glycerin bars 24 hours after cut...I'm so bummed! :( They kept sweating and sweating....maybe I'll put my dehumidifier next to my curing rack?? Is there anything I can put on the tops of these bars to make them nice and pretty again? Or just a shave or a wash? It isn't enough on top to shave though....
It looks WHITE...and I thought it would be soda ash...but it is more like a lather on top?? I also feared sitting next to the other batch on the curing rack maybe goofed it. But even the ones I put by themselves did the same.
Oh well...live and learn.
