Teach Soap

I was at my hometown's main shopping area today. Mostly boutiques and small shops.
I saw "homemade" soap all over. I'm wondering if I only noticed because I make it now, or if it's becoming more of a "thing".
Most of it still appeared to be commercialized rather than a small seller, but I could be wrong.
Just thought I'd share.

I'm seeing it everywhere too. There are many sites on the net that tell you that making soap will make you lots of money. It's this strange mentality; make it today, sell it tomorrow. No testing, no measurements, all kinds of medical claims etc.... It's sad really.

I agree that its commericialized. The stores are filling up with them, I think due to the holidays.

I always thought it funny to give bath products or perfumes for gifts (unless they are asked for). It always felt like I was telling someone they needed a bath or could smell better.

I keep seeing loads of different soaps labeled as "Handmade" triple milled soaps. They are all over the boutique shops here. The labels read like a science book with all that is in them and I doubt very much that anything is "handmade" about them. They smell great, but there is nothing special about them, just very pretty packaging. These are selling for upwards of $15 a bar. Seriously $15 PER BAR! These are just individually molded plain soap bars. No gorgeous swirls or textured tops no embeds or multiple colors....very sad looking bars but people are buying them for the pretty paper and the Handmade label. Even worse people are buying the "All Natural" ones (that I doubt are any different judging by the label) and they don't even have pretty paper just eco-friendly corrugated cardboard boxes.

It is sad what pretty paper and sometimes "imported" on the label gets people to buy. I saw $8 per bar soap that was made with palm and palm kernel oils and fragrance oil. That's it! No nicer oils or expensive essential oil! Amazing! But it sold because the packaging was very pretty (couldn't see the soap at all) and said imported on it.
