And I bet they were the most delicious pink pancakes you ever pretended to eat -- even if you had to stuff them under the pillow!

Oh reading this just made me so nostalgic. Thanks for making me smile this morning. I so miss my girl being little. Such good times and memories.

Ahhh you guys are so great! I love the stories! We once made my Mom and Dad a "cake" with yogurt and flour and fruit. I think that that is all that was in it. Dad ate it!!! The entire thing!! I also made a cake once with green sprinkles, which of course melted and made the cake a hideous green (I forget what the ingredients were, probably NOT cake ingredients) and Dad ate that whole thing too!

Anyone ever turn their kitchen into a restaurant? I think we made Dad wait an hour and a half for his order once! A sandwich and soup I believe, but first we had to figure out how to make vegetable soup from scratch. I think it was a bowl of hot water with some carrots and celery cooked in it. :lol: Parents are such good sports!

As far as the swap goes... everyone had contact with their partners yet? Everyone super excited?

My only wish is I could be there (like a fly on the wall) when you open your Ozbox! 8)

Any chance swaps happen more often than once per year? I would love to be included in the next one.

Heather my father was King of awesomeness from his daughters too. When my baby sister got one of the first easy bake ovens...daddy was in heaven. LOL. He got it for her at xmas and I know it was because he wanted something decent for a change and figured he stood a chance with pre measured stuff and a light bulb. :lol:

LOVE reading the stories of making meals for parents. So fun to think back. I know I did it...probably more than my parents would have liked. But, God bless 'em, they ate it EVERY time! I remember when my sister was between 10 & 12. She wanted to make dinner for the family. She opted for a meatloaf. That was all fine and good except that we didn't have any bread crumbs. So she decided to do a substitute....with FROOT LOOPS!! :lol: We still tease her about it to this day.
Carrie and I have been chatting about our swap. I know I am pretty excited to be exchanging with her! Super fun stuff! Thanks again, Heather, for setting this up. {{{HUGS}}}

Lisa Heather and ladies...was your family split as far as who could cook and who could not? My family was my sis and mother could mess up boiling water but Dad and I could cook anything.

My sister decided once she was married and had a child that SHE would having thanksgiving at her house and she was doing the turkey and stuffing so my parents and i filled in the rest of the meal. We arrive about 10 am and my parents a few moments later....I smell something resembling turkey but not quite...so we set up and prepped everything else and I casually ask when the turkey will be ready and my sis says.....wait for it......I don't know it went in the oven at 4 am. HOLY COW! Dad and I both got to the oven at the same moment and opened the door to see this 30 lb monstrosity.

Well we all ate dinner with no turkey just a small ham I baked....why well the bird went from wrapped to oven frozen with the giblet bag inside and you can guess the rest. Hahahaha

Hehehehe. I have one cast iron pot that was my grandmother's that has only ever had chili cooked in it. I take it with me when I visit my folks so dad can make a pot of chili. My kids will not go near it.
