I just made my first body butter by using only Shea butter, hazelnut oil and fragrance oil (Black Cherry Bomb). Now, since used no water, do I have to add a preservative or no?

I don't care for the "greasy" feel of it in the beginning when I first put it on, but after a few moments, that goes away and my skin feels sooo soft.

Since there is no water in the product, you don't have to use a preservative. I add one if there is any chance water or moisture could be introduced into it. I made a whipped butter today using avocado butter, meadowfoam oil, green tea extract, and tapiocha starch. It's a Soap Queen recipe and it is wonderful!

To help cut on the greasy feeling try adding cornstarch or tapoica starch at 1 tbsp per lb of oils. That usually does good for me in my whipped butters.

Thank you for the replies. I had thought about adding cornstrach. I actually did a half of a half recipe I would have to figure out how much to use. Didn't want to make a big batch right off the bat if I didn't like it.
