Teach Soap

I really, really want this 2 lb silicone from Crafters Choice to work. So far I have not been satisfied with the release, or should I say, lack of release from the mold. It always sticks in the corners or along the inside edges. I am using the stupid thing to get nice sharp edges.

How long should I let it sit before unmolding?
Should I put it in the freezer or frig before unmolding?
Should I "spray" or apply something to get it to release?

I have the same problem. I started using SL in my soap, which helped some - but I still need to wait a week or more to unmold if I want sharp corners.

Sodium lactate is a great help, but also... mineral oil! Apply a thin coating of mineral oil to your mold. I can unmold after a day or two since I started coating the stupid mold with mineral oil.

The only time I have problems with this mold is if my soap doesn't gel. If it gels, the soap pops right out.

I have the same problem with silicone molds. What I tried this last time was a 25% water discount, sodium lactate, and used a heating pad to force the gel. Came out beautifully with no sticking after 24 hours.

What is the procedure for using the heating pad?

When you say 25% do you mean water as a percent of oil weight?

Does Sodium lactate do the same thing as Stearic Acid? Sorry for the silly Q but i'm new to soap making

I use BB's silcone and I have been putting in the oven 170 for 45 min and then wrap for about 1 hr then uncover and I also a small water discount in each recipe. Comes out great in less than twenty four usually
