The Easy Shea Butter CP Soap Recipe calls for 16 oz. of tallow oil. Is there a substitute? Tallow oil is not easily available in my country. Thank you!

You can use palm oil as it has similar properties. Just be sure to run the recipe through a lye calculator in case the substitution changes the SAP value.

Thanks Linda. However, the recipe already has palm oil as below. Any other ideas?

Easy Shea Butter CP Soap Recipe
Coconut Oil 16 oz.
Olive Oil 18 oz.
Palm Oil 16 oz.
Shea Butter 4 oz.
Tallow 16 oz.
Totals 70 oz.

I would just leave it out.

If you run the recipe both ways through soapcalc.net you'll notice there's not that much difference in the numbers for hardness, cleansing etc.

You could also replace it with lard or vegetable shortening. Just run it through a calculator before you make it! I would suggest lard myself. :mrgreen:
