Teach Soap

A friend gave me some lego block candy molds. I couldn't resist trying them. I upped the Sodium Lactate in the batch to 2% thinking that would help with unmolding but I don't know. I made some embeds for my Christmas soaps in small silicone ice tray molds at the same time and they came out of the molds beautifully yesterday. The legos are stuck The soap is firm just stuck. Should I just give them more time? Freeze them maybe? or are the plastic candy molds not good for CP maybe just M&P. Could I have used something in the mold to help with releasing them. I'm kinda bummed about it. If I can salvage them I'd like to if not I can dig em out and grate them up for confetti soap or something.

Try freezing them and then try to pop them out. You may need to run a bit of warm water of the back of the mold to release them. You could try coating the mold with mineral oil next time since that won't saponify. Good luck!

Thanks Linda I'll pop them in the freezer when I get home from work. (overnight maybe) I hope they work. My boys are excited and I know they will be disappointed too if I have to shred them. I will definitely try the mineral oil next time too. I made three trays of them! I want these to work because I've seen the silicone version of this mold and it's expensive. Free works much better for me

ohhhh, those sound really cute!...would make great party favors for all those little boys doing lego birthday parties. Hope you are able to get them out!

They came out! Yay

I froze them last night and let them sit this morning for a bit and out they popped! Cute little guys.
I need to get better at getting them poured very level into the mold. Because they are candy molds they are only about a half inch thick so any variance is obvious. I foresee making lots of these now because they are small enough to use up bits of soap from other batches and perfect for small kid sized hands.

My boys are thrilled and are now requesting their own favorite colors so they don't get them mixed up. Hmmmn... think I just created my own monster.

Yay! Glad they worked! I love happy endings.

Yay, glad they came out okay, WildChick! Post some pics as they sounds adorable.

Wanda, mineral oil works great in pvc but until it's seasoned you might need to pop it in the freezer.
