Teach Soap

Hello All,
Just wanted to wish everyone who will be affected by hurricane Sandy a safe & sound week.
I was out of power 4 days last year with the Halloween snowstorm that hit my area. Hoping not to go thru that again!

I'm very thankful that Sandy missed Florida (family is down there), and am hoping it will go easy on my Northern family and friends!

there have a flood and wind warning in area. We are right it this storms path. so far as of 3 pm in my area its mild winds. but that can change hubby siad. so I am hoping its not that bad.

Thanks Jen. The storm is supposed to hit us pretty much head on. 75-80mph winds with gusts to 100mph and "catastrophic" rainfall. Will also be my first hurricane. My hubby works at the hospital and their storm protocol says that if the weather is bad or slated to be bad then he must stay there. So I may not see him for a few days. I'm a bit scared and nervous!

Heather, you'll be so busy keeping your dogs calm that you won't even notice the storm!
Having been through a number of hurricanes: make sure you've got plenty of water ready (bottled and in a clean tub); flashlights and extra batteries; a battery operated radio; paper plates & cups; keep your phone charging as long as possible; and stock up on bread, peanut butter & jelly.

Yesterday we went out and put all of the deck furniture and trash cans into our back garage, filled the gas cans and got some propane. We also got some extra water (especially because we have a well!). We FORGOT the batteries! We have a genny all ready to go if we need it, and plenty of extension cords to reach down here to our sump pumps (25 inches of rain in the next 5 days... those pumps will get a work out!). The propane was for the BBQ so we can still cook at least and we have a LOT of canned food too. The animals have already started to act odd, and we've just gotten a tiny taste of what we're supposed to get by this time tomorrow!

Well, Obama has put us in a state of emergency for the next 48 hours. FIMA and the red cross are coming in! And it looks like my Husband will be allowed to come home tonight, so maybe I will be able to sleep some.
