Teach Soap

I had to laugh a little...you know people ask me ALL the time why we don't show goats, rabbits, etc....well...because results are based on opinions and much like certain body parts, EVERYONE has an opinion....just remember that phrase (I'm sure we all have heard the tackier form of that saying right) My mama taught it to me and it has come in handy from time to time - certainly cheers me up when someone has a bad opinion of something I know to be perfectly good!

Yup, I would stick with judging myself based on tangible things....dollars are always nice...and don't let others opinions get you down especially when they are crusty oldies, just be happy when they hand you dollars for your pockets

I think both are in order...the prez of one of the other clubs wanted the job pretty bad, but she really already has too much on her plate. I have a feeling that she is going to try to walk all over me...it aint gonna happen. My prez, is 80 yrs old and is as spunky as they come, and sooo active in the community...anyway, my prez was yelling my name across a really large room, and smiling at me to try to get me to volunteer. I have a really good co-chair that has done the job before so she will be mentoring me.

This was my first year entering our local fair too but not with soap did the cooking ones. Neither my sweet potato enchiladas or my pina colada cheesecake won anything

In review I guess I didnt do too bad although the judging really sucked in the creative arts section. I submitted 162 items, points are assigned based on the rating of the items and I ended up 4th in points.

Check with your local agricultural extension office and find out if they have a "homemakers" club...they arent called that anymore but thats what it is. They have their own competitions which is where we were showing our stuff.

TBH I am still reading through the stack of files I was given. I do know that my first duty was to go through the rules and listen to suggestions for changes and get them approved, updated and submitted. Thankfully the old chairperson manned the meeting and I took a lot of notes and made a lot of suggestions as to how to word things. I excel in that area. What puzzles me is that one of the ladies in my club used to be an english teacher and I swear she writes the most vague things and expects people to completely understand what she is intending, but when you write something very specific, she reads all kinds of crap into it that isnt there. Its a mystery.
