I've been considering purchasing a clear acrylic mold (slab and log)....does anyone use one and if so, what are your thoughts? Pros and cons?

I have three of them from SoapHutch. I use sodium lactate in every batch and they come out pretty easy. They are easily taken apart to clean.

Thanks Irena, that's good to know.

By the way, I think it was you that recommends using beeswax to keep away ash, I tried it and it works great....so thank you! I like using SL too but hadn't tried it together with the beeswax yet, do you use both beeswax and SL in your bars?

You're welcome. I'm glad the beeswax worked out for you. Yes, I use both together.

Coolah, have you tried rubbing alcohol? That works really well too, it's just a bit time consuming spraying the tops every half hour.

The ash can make really cool effects with rustic soap in the right colour combination. We made an orange soap here, and the ash gave it an authentic orange-pith appearance. I really like orange FO, it lasts well and doesn't accelerate.

Thanks! Do you mind me asking around about how much you paid for your acrylic molds through soap hutch?

Thanks Jero, those are the ones I'm considering. I would love to find one that's 3.25" wide, but 3.5" seems to be the standard. Did you get custom-cut ones or the standards?
