Teach Soap

I am pretty new to CP Soap making and used a red Wilton mold and it turned my soap a light pink on the edge. Should I avoid Wilton's silicon molds or are all silicon molds created equal?

Hi,

I've had the same problem with red Wilton molds myself. After several uses and washings (used it three times and washed it several times in between to try and solve the problem), I still have problems with them.

Personally I suggest Fat Daddio silicon molds (available on amazon and less expensive than Wilton), never had an issue with them.

Thanks windowshady, I found this one at a thrift store for $1 I thought I was getting a good deal, but not if my soaps are red.

Hmm that's a puzzle. I've used red Wilton silicone molds quite a bit and never had that problem. Could it be the oils/fats or essential/fragrance oils used or a combo of them? Wonder what someone more experienced will say!

I had that problem with my cp soaps, so I dont use them for that anymore. I use mine mainly for MP and making bath fizzies.
