I've heard that one can make liquid hand soap by using KOH instead of NaOH, and adding more liquid, but how much more? How much KOH? What's the process/method? I'm thinking just olive oil and something to make it foamy (but not coconut or palm oil), perhaps castor. Does anyone have experience at this? Is it actually CP, or is it more HP as a process?

There's a few books out there on how to make liquid soap - I believe SoapyLove has an eBook you can purchase and download.

Otherwise I'd start with googling how to make liquid soap so you can learn how it's done and what's involved.

Yes, I'm googling. The first page or two are full of this, paraphrased in many ways:

"Nobody wants those harsh chemicals that are in commercial laundry and dish detergents or hand soaps! To make your own, free of those things, get a (store-bought) bar of soap and grate it..."

*sigh*

A-M sells a liquid soap e-book that contains a few recipes. It's more like HP that the Sage recipe Linda linked. That sounds so easy that I might try the method!

I just made my first liquid soap last week and it was an olive oil castor recipie. I bought the Liquid soap guru kit off brambleberry. You get an ebook, a video, and they send you 2lbs. of potassium hydroxide 2 different FO's 8oz. of castor oil and I think 20 4oz. bottles. It helped alot. Here is the link
http://www.brambleberry.com/Liquid-Soap ... P4829.aspx
It is done by HP. I have never HP CP soap before and I didnt have any trouble. It did take about 5 hours for my soap to fully cook though. I have been told recipies made with coconut oil do not take as long. I am going to try one today to see what the difference is. None of the recipies in Anne Maries ebook need to be neutralized. There is the olive castor recipie, a castile recipie ( 100% olive ), and a few others with coconut oil. But the one I am going to do today is one that I have " created ".

I keep saying "no coconut or palm oil."

Still waiting for any suggestions that don't involve coconut or palm oil. :?

What do you plan on using it for? Is it just going to be a hand soap or are you looking to use it in the shower? Although I have just made this one batch Ive been asking alot of questions too and have been told not to SF it like cp soap or it will go rancid. I have asked the highest SF one could go safely and have yet to get a response :?: but it seems the standard is 2-3% SF.
