the one at CVS/Wal-Greens/the pharmacy?

I am waiting on my order from Brambleberry (I do believe we say "BB" here don't we? LOL...That's my initials too ) Anyways....waiting PATIENTLY on that...but...

I have a NON-soap (kinda) thing I want to try a friend brought me, I am just curious, is drug store type castor oil the same as the one I ordered for my soap from BB?

She's doing a "test run" as it were on some "clean your face with oil thing"....I told her I would give it 2 weeks TOPS and try it as well...we start tonight, she fixed up this simple little bottle of oils...and castor oil was one ingredient, so I was curious and figured die-hard soapers would know...

If it IS the same, well, the castor oil at Wal-Greens MUST be made outta gold for what she paid for 4 ounces!

My first 10 or 15 batches were made with drugstore castor! Ended up being a super expensive way to buy it... that was before I found online soaping supply shops!

I used Walmart castor, olive and coconut oils for my first few batches, but only because I wanted to be sure I liked making soap before I went and bought huge amounts of my base oils. Now I buy the castor in 7# jugs from Soaper's Choice.

IDK...all I know is she was SUPER excited and when she told me what she spent on 4 oz I almost shed a tear for her...but she was ready to go, had made something herself...hey...if I can encourage or enable even just one person to try something new and crafty and homemade, I will It's just rubbing some oil on your face instead of froo froo cleansers...something easy...can't be too bad to give it a go...The fact she said it's labeled as a laxative REALLY threw me off a bit though...and you just never know if what you google is a fact or fiction...

I really was floored on her "priced like gold castor oil" though - even if you threw away the rest of the bottle, you can get twice as much for half the price online - but hey, she's learning like a lot of us are bless her heart (Just most of us know online shopping is usually cheaper...especially when you add up your gas and time to go get things...but hey...learning curves do exist right?)

Castor oil is actually one of the most recommended laxatives! Its decently cheap and does the job without "drugs" or drug interactions. Fun fact!

I buy my castor oil at Drug Emporium and a local place called Sprouts. It's about $8 for a 16 oz. bottle. I don't order it with the rest of my supplies (like when I order from BB) because we generally go into Sprouts to go grocery shopping (they have awesome organic groceries) so I just pick it up while I'm grocery shopping, and I use it in small amounts (5% and I soap in one and two pound batches), so it works out great for me

Hello all, new to the forums. I am seeing $7 and $8 dollars for coconut oil and am dying. I wish I could find it for that locally where I am. I just paid something like $11.00 for a 15 fl oz bottle. I do love seeing all the info though. I priced Castor the other day at our local Walmart and it was something like $1.59 for 6 oz. How I wish all the oils were that cheap. I have placed orders with BB for other things and will be buying all my hard oils from there very soon. This shopping around for the oils is for the birds!
