Teach Soap

Is there a list some where of safe and not safe places to buy oils from?...or which oils are pure and not? I still plan on ordering my FO, EO, colorants, ect from BB, but I just can't afford to ship THAT much oil across the country every time I want to make soap...

In a UC Davis study, these brands failed to meet olive oil standards:
Bertolli
Carapelli
Colavita
Filippo Berio
Mazzola
Mezzetta
Newmans Own
Pompeian
Rachel Ray
Star
Whole Foods

In the same study, these olive oils met the standards:
Corto Olive
California Olive Ranch
Kirkland Organic
Lucero (Ascolano)
McEvoy Ranch Organic

Wow, that is so **shocking** that Cosco/Kirckland bet out Whole Foods.

I know I want to use pure OO in my soap, no doubt....but can you tell the different in your soap between pure and not?

I used an uknown brand for my soap once. It was definitely adultarated as it was soft for a looooooooooong time.

I have used Walmart's brand of pure olive oil with very good results. I usually order my olive oil from BB but had ran out and went and bought some. Turned out well.

I use Costco's olive oil.

Guess I'll be making a trip to cosco soon ....Soaping is NOT cheap. I think I need a second job to support my newest addiction.

Should I be worried about any other oils (mainly coconut) being cut with other oils?

I wonder if it is the oo that I used to cause my soap in a pot today. I looked at it and it says Pure Olive Oil. Ingredients: Refined Olive oil, Extra Virgin Olive oil. Product contains oil from Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco, and Argentina. That's a lot of places to get oil from. I'm thinking I won't use this brand of oo anymore. It was from Albertson's and is Fresh Aisle brand.

Sorry to be bumping this....but....

Does anyone know if any Sam's club carries a "safe" OO, it's a lot closer then Cosco. I'm sooo busy this time of year I'm not sure when I'll have the time to get to Cosco.
