Eh? What's this? A GIANT box of goodies...maybe...

So, long story short (and sad too boot) - a young lady I work with just had her mother pass away...apparently, prior to her battle with cancer, she was a soaper mostly of the melt and pour habit.

When the young lady found out I too make soap, she brought me a GINORMOUS box of goodies! All sorts of little soap molds (for if ever I should start making M&P I am set for life!) and tons of little FO and EO looking bottles - quite a few of those are questionable, but might smell lovely in some potpourri around the house. I got 6 full 2oz bottles of "Soap Wizard" scents, each different (who is this wizard? Is he from Oz? Where's Toto? What I mean is I have no clue where they came from...) Here is what I am most curious about in the box:

I now have in my hot little hands many many 4 oz jars of Wellington Fragrances Micas! Are these any good for CP type soaps? I mean just for decorating the tops really, not coloring them. Lemme tell ya what I got here...what we have here is:

1 EACH orange and green mica
2 EACH extra large sparkle and violet mica and...count 'em now...
5 (yes, 5) that say red mica....

Now, obviously, through my research, these are more of a glimmery shimmery thing and not so much color (it's like having buckets full of fairy dust)...BUT could they be used to dust the top of a loaf of soap and add pretty froo-froo shine? Am I in eyeshadow making heaven now? Do I need to learn how to make that next?

That's 11 jars of shimmery fairy dust...that's a TON of fairy dust. Sadly, the previous owner is not around to ask what SHE was doing with it...or I would...thoughts ya'll? (And no, I still can't go make any soap...I need to head out and get some work done in the yard...but it's fun to imagine making soap!)

Lucky you!
I was going to post a link to their mica page, but there are only 3 micas listed and none of them were the ones you listed here. :x

I have not had good luck with Wellington fragrances. Soap Wizard, if I remember correctly is a company that's no longer in business. Any idea how old the FO's are? If you make cold process soap, unless you sprinkle the glittery micas on top, they will get lost in soap. They work better in clear MP soap.

I'm sure Hestey would take them if you decide to find them a new home.

LOL - I think surely I will be rehoming some of this red - I am in "sparkly red mica heaven" thats for sure!

I looked up Soap Wizards, called, and yes they are still in business (at least that's what Someone named Tony told me :) )

Not sure of the age, and the former owner is no longer here to tell me, BUT everything was all sealed up still - like with tape how BB sends stuff - so after I got done picking off LAYER after LAYER of tape I smelled some of the scents....and played in the micas...

I was thinking I could just dust them onto stuff, like a thin layer on the top to add sparkle and shine....though I do seriously think soon rather than later I will be in need of a new home for some of this red mica!

I do dust some of my soaps with micas. Especially if I use one of my molds that has some detail to it. I prefer tone on tone but you could try the red on a brown soap. The "fairy dust" can be sprinkled on the tops of your just poured soap either by using a cosmetic brush to shake it from or put the "Fairy dust" in a salt shaker and sprinkle it on. I am a believer that the world is a better place with a little bling in it!
