Made my first pumpkin soap yesterday. Unmolded and cut this morning and it was super greasy. It didnt zap me and went through a full gel. Does pumpkin puree usually do this to soap? It also smelled of my FO. Is that what it was? Why did it do that? Used NG's Frosted Pumpkin.

I've had that happen a few times and the oil absorbs back in after a few days. I think it may have something to do with heat/humidity - we had a lot of both this summer!

Great looking soap, BTW! :D

Thanks Linda! Also had some other strange issues while making this. I think it riced on me never experienced ricing before but it looked like orange grits haha. I know FO's can cause this but can the pumpkin as well? I seperated into 2 batches cause I wanted to do seperate colors but only the part with the pumpkin did it. Also didnt happen until after it was poured into the mold so poured it back out and stick blended till smooth again.

Sounds like you may have gotten a false trace with the pumpkin and that's why it separated. Maybe it was a combination of the pumpkin and the FO. Who knows!?

I added the pumpkin after I had reached trace though.

I really think that looks like a very nice soap! Like the others said, give it a couple of days and see if the oils reabsorb. I am always amazed at the changes my soaps make in just a matter of days.

I gotta ask...is that JUST the pumpkin that makes it that awesome color? Or did you add something to turn it that lovely orange? Because even if it is a little slick and shiny it SURE is a wonderful shade of orange!

I really hope it absorbs the oils back up...I would hate to see something so nifty looking turn out wrong...
