Does anyone know if the coconut oil that you can buy at the grocery store is 76 or 92 or neither? I was wanting to go get a small jar since I don't have funds to order at the moment but I am tired of using my fractionated co in my soaps. I noticed there is not much difference in properties in Soap Calc except the Iodine value. Just curious so I can make my recipe correct.

How can you tell if it is 76 or 92 if it isn't labeled? I have some from the grocery store that is solid right now. The label only says "organic extra virgin coconut oil". Should I assume that it is 92 since my ambient house temperature is around 77?

If the temp in your house is usually 77 & that's solid, then yes it is most likely 92.

My 76 degree CO is usually solid even though my house temp is usually closer to 80. I do keep it in the basement except when soaping/cooking with it - so maybe that's why?
