Teach Soap

I love making soap designs with squirt bottles (like this: http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body- ... -tutorial/) but it wastes a lot of soap because it thickens up too much and I can't get it all out of the bottle. This happens even when I trace as light as possible.

Any thoughts on how to not waste so much?

I've wondered about that, too. That's one reason I haven't used them yet. The other is that I don't have any!

I've done one of these, and there is SO much waste! Plus the bottles are super hard to clean. I wonder if you could spritz some mineral oil in there to help the soap batter slide out?

I am SO glad you asked this question, as I was about to post a similar one myself. I used squirt bottles to soap for the first time the other night and everything worked great. The soap stayed thin enough almost the whole time, but I still had a good bit of waste in the bottles.
And cleaning.....well, that was what I was going to ask about. Clean right away? (But I was concerned about all those oils heading down my drain.) or Wait a few days? (Which is what I did.) What's the most time-and-labor efficient method for cleaning these babies???

they are a pain to clean. I wait till the next day when the soap has firmed up but isnt hard and fill the bottles with water and let them soak for a bit. A little Dawn dish detergent to help break up any oils, put the lid on and shake like crazy...rinse and repeat. I fish the chunks out before they hit the drain and throw them away.

I do the same as Dawn, soak them for a few days & they just rinse clean

As for wastage, yeah there's a bit but it's worth it

Just use disposable frosting bags. No clean up needed.

I leave the bottles for a week and then throw them in the bath with my kids. They play with them, fill and empty, squirt each other etc, that the bottles come out squeaky clean.
