My family and I get together with our friends and their families every halloween. We eat and take the kids trick or treating. I would love to make some "halloween" soap and take for the adult women, just to do something different and nice. Any ideas or suggestions? Keep in mind, the only m&p I've done is a kit from Hobby Lobby. I saw a couple of kits on BB, but I really want to make some type of Pumpkin or something cuter than a spider or eyeballs.
Thanks

The Dollar Tree has some cute Halloween themed ice cube molds, pumpkins, skulls, etc.
Do you plan on doing a loaf and then slicing? Or do you plan on doing individual molds?
If you plan on doing a loaf (the dollar tree also has plastic drawer organizers that work great as loaf molds  ), you could first make up some pumpkin soaps to embed or stick in the top of the loaf. But the actual loaf you could do in layers to look like candy corn.

If you go to Etsy & search "Halloween Soap" you can get tons of ideas.

I see Genny already suggested candy corn soap, that's what I was going to suggest :)

You guys are geniuses  That is an awesome idea. And I LOVE the dollar tree. The only thing I would worry about is the slicing. I don't do anything straight. I bet my hubby could do it for me though. Thank y'all so much, I really appreciate it.

if you have a michael's crafts around, you'll find some kute silicone pumpkin molds. there's always something there i can use for soaping. just don't use the mp bases they have. they're yiky.

some kits are ok to start with.. but it really depends on the base M&P... I started out with a kit from amazon I brought about a year ago or so. I then went to BB for all my soaping needs. so good luck. we here are already to help. just ask. and welcome

Ok so here's my plan. I am going to place an order from BB and make the pumpking mold and fill in the face with black. I would love to do as some of you suggested and put those pumpkins on top of a loaf mold to be sliced up. I want to make the candy corn loaf but I have no idea what I should even do to get that look. Help!

Well, for my 1st soap I used my Rubbermaid drawer organizer and did layers with Halloween finger puppets embeded in it. Since I had too much space between the puppets, I sliced some of the soap off. Then I made candy corns (cut triangles) along with orange curly Qs from the sliced off part and embedded those in chartreuse clear MP - again using the drawer organizer as a mold..

Anyway, that's how I made candy corns. Hope it helps.

Would this work?

Layered soap in a rectangle mold. Bottom layer black and top layer clear. Then I would put my orange pumpkins with their faces filled in with black on top???

I really appreciate all of you having patience with me and helping me. This will be my first time making soap without a kit. I just don't know what works well, and what doesn't yet.
Thanks :D

Except you want to build the bottom of the mold as the top, so pour a small layer of clear, spray with alcohol (spray the pumpkins too) and embed them let that dry for a few minutes, then spray with alcohol again and pour more clear, let that dry for a bit, then spray with alcohol again and pour your black. Make sure you're using non-bleeding colours though, or else you're going to get a halo effect and your lines wont be as crisp as you might like.

I'm not familiar with the colour blocks, but if you check the BB website it should tell you if they're bleeding or not :) Depending on how much clear you plan on using I personally would fragrance that and the black, but I really like fragrance and get disappointed when a soap doesn't have it all the way through, so it's basically personal preference.

I believe the only way to avoid that is to use a clear FO, but I could be wrong.
