Teach Soap

Is it all right to use filtered water to make cold process or rebatch soaps in place of distilled water?

I use the same water I use in the kitchen, from one of those big 20L bottles that fit on top of a cooler. It's cheap enough - about 10c/L - and it has no minerals that could make scum.

Oh by the way, you can often find super cheap deals on surplus ion-exchange cartridges on EBay. I bought one for $10 that produces hospital-grade water, and had the plumber make a jury-rig arrangement! Talk about cheap...
I think what happens is that expensive cartridge filters get left over, and without the (expensive) framework they plug into, they are 'useless'. Not to me, though.

I'm using water from a Brita water filter that has been sitting for awhile at room temperature.

how about R/O water. it has every thing removed from the water. so the ph comes out at about 5. is that ok. i have my own reverse osmosis unite that i use for my fish tanks.

RO water is perfect. No minerals to mess things up. Brita filters do not remove dissolved minerals, pretty useless really.
