What are your plans as a soap manufacturer for this year's global hand washing day on 15th October?
We have announced 2 workshops (already out booked), one singing contest and one drawing contest all for children.

I've never heard of it either, I'll have to celebrate!

Although, as a "germ-free" advocate - I believe EVERY day should be hand washing day! (I still shudder to think of all the women at my old job that I saw walking out of the bathroom stall without washing their hands!

Never heard of this holiday but it's awesome for soapmakers everywhere. It should be a good way to increase awareness of handcrafted soap. Wish I had some good ideas.

I absolutely agree with you, go to a public rest room (restaurant, museum, shopping mall) and count how many people wash their hands after leaving the stall. It is disgusting.
I was more astonished to read statistics and reports how many people die each hour because of nasocomial infections (or something like that meaning hospital caused infections) because the staff and the physicians do not wash their hands going from patient to patient (not somewhere in Africa, here in Europe and there in the US)

Anyway, I think it is our responsibility (and of course a wonderful business opportunity ) to make this day public and make the best out of this.

I'd also like to note that Brambleberry's Anne-Marie once posted about Global Handwashing Day and indicated that she was donating several bars (or was it batches?) of soap to places overseas and at home so that people could wash who didn't usually get to do so.

There's a local source where community members can go to get food, toiletries, medications, furniture, household goods, and even vehicles. I just called them and they're interested. I'm bringing them ALL of my existing soaps except three bars of each kind (so that we have something to use in our new place while I get more batches made). I won't have to schlep them across country, and the folks who need soap will get it.

I'm glad they do have this service, giving lots of needed items besides just food. Food can come from donations or from food stamps for those who need them, but you can't buy toiletries with food stamps. I actually think that's a little bit ridiculous, to be honest: You can buy ice cream, potato chips, soft drinks, and "foods" made out of the most disgusting nuclear-waste sludge known to man, but you can't buy toothpaste, soap, shampoo, or maxi-pads/tampons! So a great big YAY and whew that there are places that will give those other items.
