Teach Soap

I have never used Aloe Vera juice in making soap but am about to make some Castile or what some call Bastile soap. I use mostly OO but through in a couple of other oils such as Castor and Cocoa Butter to stiffen it up a bit. I have read there are some benefits to using Aloe Vera and even goats milk…I Just wondered what the experiences of some of the forum members were or are using Aloe Vera instead of wat. I don’t mean to be redundant but I have queried a couple of other forums to get their take on this as well…

Thanks for asking this...I was think about using is instead of water in half of my soaps.

And I would like to hear what everyone thinks of it too?

Yes you can, but watch your temps. Be aware when you add lye to aloe it will discolor and might smell bad at first.

Irena...you mentioned that when you add the lye to Aloe juice it will discolor....Is the discoloration the same as using an FO that has vanillian in it?...I really don't want it to turn my soap brown ie., I have enought brown soap all ready...I usually soap at about 100 to 110 dgrees...with the temp effect the color of the lye, Aloe reaction?

I just did this with my tomato soap. Used all aloe juice and powdered goats milk. I colored my soap with a pigment so can't say what color I would have obtained. I love the feel of this soap... lather is very creamy. I will have to see what my testers think of it.
