I normally make my loofa soaps with M&P, but I'm starting to transition away from it for the ability to have items unwrapped at markets without sweating. One of the things I hate doing with M&P is my loofa circles in soap. The little buggers always float to the top, they are uneven, etc. So I was thinking of doing them with CP soap.

There shouldn't be any issues with that, right? I've done shredded loofa in CP soap before, but not the circle / slices. Would there be any issues with those? And would the soap still get in and around the loofa? Or would it likely just sit around the outside?

When I made them, I rinsed the loofah off under water, then squeezed out well the excess. You won't be able to get the CP soap into all the nooks and crannies.

I bought some loofah from BB and want to try that when I have a little more time to experiment. I've also seen longer slices of loofah, about 3 inches, with the CP soap poured inside...something else I want to try. 8)

Ok cool. Will give them a go later today then. So long as it won't be a complete waste of the loofa slices I'm happy to play :)

I can't remember where, but I think I remember seeing a round (PVC) mold that someone had put a "log" of loofah into. Then the soap was poured around/over it.

I've done that before with M&P and nearly broke my arms trying to cut it! :o

CP would definitely be easier to cut. But the loofa itself can be quite hard.
I have 100 slices (pre cut loofa log) here. Normally I just pop those into my circle mold and pour soap over the top.

We are lucky enough to have a HUGE farmers market on the North side of Houston, open 7 days a week. Several of the vendors carry loofas. I got 5 for 20 bucks. They are at least 18 inches long and I have to wet them to squeeze them into my molds they are so wide. I have my husband cut them into 1" slices for me before I work with them. There is NO way I would try to cut a log of that with soap inside it.

In order to cut it you need to use a serrated knife and a sawing motion. That is why I usually shred mine and put it in that way. Did you know you can use a piece of loofa to scrub your pots with? Works great.
