So, seriously what were the chances that the storm reaches hurricane status and will hit New Orleans on the 7th year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina?!

I am in Dallas too and have been watching the reports on the Hurricane. It's crazy but the cities seem more prepared this time. I am just hoping it brings us some rain! We need it desperately!

We got a whole lot of wind and rain, I am about 3 hours from NOLA, in north-central (aka "the ankle") of the state. I think our power went out once when I was asleep because I woke up during the night and had to turn my fan back on. Other than that, my mom just drove me crazy about checking on the pool every 47 seconds to make sure the cover was still tied down, my cat jetted around the house like a pinball every time it thundered for two days, our cable internet was very fussy which inhibited my True Blood watching and online gaming, and we watched a whole lot of Weather Channel.

I honestly never knew how bad hurricane weather really was until I watched some youtube of it. The "hurricanes" we got in Canada that were considered bad were apparently nothing!

We were right on the side of the "Eye". The problem with this storm was it sat for 36 hours and blew and rained. We got water in the little building I call the soap house. About 2 or so inches, just enough to screw up the laminate flooring. I guess we'll be putting ceramic tile in now, easier clean up and just needs airing out. It was actually worse wednesday night than it was on tuesday night. A very unusual storm, it strengthened and formed better once it hit land and then stalled. They usually do the opposite. Now it's back out in the gulf of mexico after touring the mid west and east coast. It's scary that a little storm (relatively speaking) can do almost as much damage as a big storm like Katrina. I hope everyone faired well.

Me, too, Soapbuddy. I was definately glad it wasn't the Big house. It made for a stressful week, that and labor day, I'm still having trouble remembering what day it is. It not something I would want to do over and over again.

I can relate, bayougirl! I lived in FL for 30 years and went through numerous hurricanes. The only time we ever evacuated was in 2004 when Frances and Jean slammed into the east coast less than 30 miles from where we lived. I almost think evacuating was more stressful than staying!
