Were they clear like lye crystals or were they white like some sort of precipitant? Ive had a few little crystals of precipitant in my lye solution because I think the stuff I get from ACE isn't pure, I'm switching over to food grade once I work though my current store of lye, I wouldn't worry about it.

They were tiny little white specks and no I'm definitely not sellIng these. I don't know why but it moved really fast on me and not all of my colorant got properly dispersed and it just looks weird. I took it out of the mold and cut it up earlier and I tested each bar and nothing. So this will just be a batch my family gets to have for free. The lye I purchase comes from BB. I did more research last night and I read that a lot of people have said that if they wash out their lye water bowl with soap and water they find they have little specks and that's what I had just done a few minutes before I started that batch.

There is no need to wash out your lye pitcher with soap. Just water is sufficient. If the "floaties" were just on top of your lye water, that could be from washing the pitcher with soap.

Is it possible that the lye was mis-measured and there was too much to dissolve in the water?
Or maybe you did a water discount and there wasn't enough water to fully dissolve the lye? This could cause the soap to trace more quickly.

Were you using distilled water? It sounds like mineral precipitate and not lye. This could be from the water you used to clean the container, contaminated lye, or from the water you used to mix the solution.
