I still don't know what went wrong, and it frustrates me to not learn what it is and how to fix it (and to waste 12 pounds of olive oil), but I'm going to work with the opinions of those more experienced than I am: "Dump it and move on." Thank you all for considering my problem.

If it no longer zaps after the rebatching and is still soft, could you mold it into soap balls? If you really wanted to get fancy, you could felt them.

In my experience, rebatched soap never gets as hard as CP even after several weeks. But perhaps I'm doing it wrong.

If you used full water in 100% OO soap (and possibly even more when you rebatched) it could take quite a while for it to firm up.

Good luck! I'm wincing at the thought of losing 12 lbs of OO.

I think maybe it's because you used so much water. I rarely add more than a couple of tablespoons of water to my rebatch. If the soap is very fresh, I don't add any liquid at all.
