Teach Soap

I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has a slogan that goes with their business name. I know it isn't necessary to have, but part of me thinks I should have one.

Also, has anyone trademarked/registered their business name, if so what was the process like for you? I want to submit my company name to 99designs so that I can get designers to design a logo for me, but I also don't want to put my company name out there without being trademarked first. Not sure if I can trademark just the name and then go back and trademark the logo/color/design etc.

I keep reading about trademarks (even on the USPTO site) and they make the process seem so intimidating!!

I have a slogan. It's not very creative though. LOL
My biz name is The Naughty Soaper. My slogan is "Sinfully Wonderful Skin Care"

I can't help you with the trademark thing, since I haven't researched getting mine trademarked.

I don't have a slogan. I have my name trademarked. When I filed for the trademark, it was time consuming and USPTO had me make some changes before it was finally approved.

Just make sure you buy the .com first. With my toy business I followed the "rules" and got my business license first and then that very day the .com was bought by someone else, so I had to come up with a new name or pay the $1500 the company that bought the .com offered it to me for. I don't know if or when I'll sell soap, but the day I thought I might in the future I came up with a name and bought the .com.

@Genny: I think it is cute! Were you afraid to put your business name out there without it being trademarked?

@Irena: Do you think an attorney is necessary or is it not as intimidating as they make it out to be?

@Michelle: Wow, that is crazy! I've been looking to see if the .com is available for the name I came up with (which it is!) so I should definitely go ahead and buy it now. My boyfriend found a website (not sure of the name off hand, but I can get that info) where you can purchase domain names for fairly cheap and they also offer different packages to make your own website. His father owns a service company for hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, and whirl pool baths which my boyfriend will be taking over some day so we made a website for the company. They recently just got a DBA for a smaller pool service company and even though it isn't up and running just yet they recently purchased the domain name for $3.99 for the year. Although they ran into the same issue...one day the domain name they wanted was available, they got their DBA, and the domain name was taken.

my slogan is "Made with Love, Filled by Hand" I started out with just candles, but it still applies, everything I do is done by hand, and I think it's important for people to know that.

"Affordable Luxury for Everyday Use" I hate it when someone buys my soap then puts it in a soap dish in the guest bath and never uses it.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I have never had a problem with CP melting in the car, but then it does not get as hot here as it does other places. Now cars can still heat up and we need to be aware of that...this summer alone Wisconsin had 9 childrens deaths due to them being left in a car. That breaks my heart.
I believe lush makes M&P soaps and yes, those would melt in a car.

I've had one of my customers leave my soap under her seat in her car. Needless to say it melted in the desert heat. She wasn't too happy about that. She was using it as an air freshener.
