Teach Soap

Hi all! I'm hoping some veteran soapers out there have tips to share. My CP bars always come out a bit dull and spotty looking. I've tried wiping them down with 90% isopropyl alcohol and cold water, but neither seem to help much.

Is there a trick to this? Do bars need to be wiped down when they're first cut? I'm always a bit reluctant to add moisture because I don't want to work up a lather on a bar that's going to out for sale.

I would try silicone molds. They have a nice smooth finish. Or try not gelling. Are you getting ash on your soaps? Are the spots inside the soap as well?

If it's just ash, spray it with alcohol and wipe off. The spots inside your soap could be stearic acid precipitating out from one of your soapmaking oils or butters. Stearic acid needs a higher temp then room temp to melt. Are you using goat's milk also?
