After 2 failed CM attempts this weekend I went back to my regular recipie today and after 2 1/2 hrs in mold this is what I discovered, a CRACK!!!!! Is there any way to fix this?

It's overheating. I would elevate it and put a fan on it to cool it off, or put it in the fridge.

There is a youtube tutorial about eliminating cracks. It involves spraying the crack with high % isopropyl alcohol and I can't remember the rest. :oops:

same problem here when I use my plastic mold. It is too big for the frig so I set it on top of the AC vents (floor type) to help keep them from overheating. Like others have said, try to get a fan on it to keep the temps down to a reasonable level and dont insulate.

Just unmolded and cut this. It must have overheated pretty well and gone through a gel cause it hasnt even been 8 hours yet but i was pretty anxious to see the damage. It wasnt to bad just a little surface crack. Tried to swirl this but it didnt work to well it got to a medium trace before I could pour the second color. Next time I guess i wont blend it as long. This is my 5th batch so far and now after the lye pocket incident I think I see them in every soap haha probably just being paranoid

Scented with NG's Chestnut Brown Sugar ( which is yummy! ) And colored with cocoa powder.

ahutchens, looks excellent. I do not see the crack at all. I know it is hard to go throught all of these issues but this is where the learning happens. I happen to like the two tone look. Swirls will come with time.
