Tried another CM soap and this time used mostly water to disolve my lye. ( Last time I used all CM and ended up with lye pockets and had to rebatch ). I must already be getting visited by those pesky gremlins cause this one almost turned hard as a rock before i got it into the mold. Might just forget those darn CM soaps. Not sure if it was the soap of my FO. Used NG's Fresh Fallen Leaves which I have seen a few people have had no A with this FO. The recipie I used was...
90g Castor
180g Coconut Oil
360g Olive Oil
135g Palm Oil
135g Shea Butter
123g Lye (5%)
200g Water
97g CM ( added at trace )
Have a feeling I will be rebatching this one as well  Has been in mold only about 15 min and it is pretty solid!

I have added room temp CM at trace a few times, and it has thickened up on me extremely fast every time, with an intense complete gel phase.

I've soaped the Fresh Fallen Leaves FO and didn't get any acceleration at all from it.

I would def soap cooler, around 100 at the most. I've found that if I put my lye mixture container into a bucket of ice water, by the time I have heated my solid oils and mixed them with the liquid oils, they are about the same temp as the lye water, and everything cools down to 100 at around the same time.

I don't have any advice to give about CM. I quit trying after three batches because of it, and the batches I made seemed a little drying to me. I've read on another forum that can be the case with CM for some people, kind of like with high percentages of Coconut Oil.

You can warm up your lye water in the sink with a hot water cushion around it. I would soap at a round 110 degrees (US).

Ahutchin, if I count correctly, you have 10% of castor in your recipe. I don't know if this is your usual recipe, but I got to know by reading (not that I checked it out myself), that castor oil can accelerate trace.
The second thing: I think you have a significant water (liquids) discount in your recipe.
After all,I think your temps.were high. I ussually soap at 100 for oils and
90 for l/w, with having noticed that lower temps.working just fine,as well
I hope it helped.

Well I unmolded and cut this morning and OMG what an ugly soap! Not even going to bother rebatching this will just keep and use as is. I think I will just stick to my mango shea soap for now. Might try this again on a simple soap as I was wanting to swirl this and thats when I started running into problems. I did like the way it suds up when I washed out my pot though. As for my other CM batch that had the lye pockets I ended up tossing that one. Rebatched it in the oven and when I cut it still had a few white spots that zapped me. Figured better safe than sorry and a lesson learned :D
