How do I use pigments? Do I suspend them in water? I have not glycerine. I have 1 ounce of sweet almond oil in my recipe, I could use that.

You mean like oxides? Oxides dissolve in oil. Ultramarines dissolve in water. Put a tiny bit on your finger, then run it inder some water. If it dissolves, it needs water for dilution. If it doesn't, it needs oil.

Without a doubt, colors are the most confusing about soap making to me. The jar from BB calls it Ultramarine violet pigment. I got it to disolve in oil.

That one is actually best dissolved in water.

Here I go re-teaching what SB taught us:

If it is an Oxide use an Oil (both begin with O)

If it is an ultramarine use water (marine = water)

This helps me all of the time.

I use SAO for everything, works good for me, just a little extra mixing for ultramarines.

I don't actually measure. :oops: I just mix a bunch until I get the colour I want. Not had an issue yet *knocks on wood*.

I have always done the oil and water thing for my colors to but wanted to try glycerin. Do you have to include that into your recipe? You would only need a very little, correct?
