Wait wait wait... your Home Depot has employees?! The one here has a bunch of idiots dressed as employees that are too busy talking to help customers. I want your Home Depot! Do they charge 25 cents a cut there? I'm actually so cheap that an extra $1.50 would just annoy me, unless I had a coupon or it was on sale. Especially since I have 2 men here who love power tools who will cut it for free.

Actually planning to grab wood from construction debris piles or driveways of folks who are doing some home improvements. Freecycling rocks!

They don't charge for cuts???? That is pretty much unheard of here.

I suspect our power tools are not quite so technologically advanced. My FIL used them decades ago when he was doing construction. I suspect they don't even cut straight anymore either! Maybe I'll ask for a mitre saw for Christmas. I could use it for molds and any other things I would need cut around the house, and I'm not too scared of those. It was a band saw that claimed Ryan's thumb (which they were able to surgically re-attach).

Great job. I know how hard it can be.
I too made a soap mold. I wanted one that was 4" tall and 2 1/2 " wide. I was trying for the size Emily (Sheih Design Studio) has in silicone. (Can't afford that one right now).
Well its was a learning experience to say the least. I watched a few you tube videos. Never do that again. They make it look so easy.
First I forgot that a 1x4 isn't really a 1x4 its anywhere from a 1/2 x 3 1/2 to 3/4 to 3 1/2. Then I tried drill holes in the ends and they didn't match up well. But I did learn with some patience I probably will do better next time. My final product looks nowhere as nice as yours. I'll keep trying though. Better planning next time.
It is rewarding to want something and try to accomplish it.
