I brought a gal of http://www.naturesgardencandles.com/can ... tem=Bath-2
with a pump for it. the bath wash is thin. can I use an thickener? and if so what kind?

PS I know its not the best but since I give it away I wanted some to play with.

Hrm, looks like they thicken with salt. That would have been my suggestion but you don't want to add any more. Um, since my knowledge is limited to salt I'd say wait for Irena! Irena always knows what to do!

It does have salt and if you add more it might make it really watery. I would either use more Cocomidopropyl Betaine or really dilute it and use it in foamer bottles.

I would guess that they already added enough salt to put it right at the top of the salt curve. As soapbuddy said, adding more could push it to the right of the curve and make it like water. The DEA moves the salt curve to the left (it used to be thought of as a thickener)
The preferred ways of making it thicker would be to use a synergistic surfactant - Dehyton G (sodium cocoamphoacetate) is one that works - or to use a thickener such as Crothix or Glucamate VLT. Or alternatively to increase the % of SLeS, add yet more salt, and then you'd have to add more betaine because SLeS is an irritant.

Are you saying that the base thinned out when you added the FO? If that's the case, adding polysorbate to the fragrance 1:1 sometimes helps. Crothix is a good idea too. Make sure that it's the liquid and not the pastilles. The pastilles are harder to incorporate. The Cocomidopropyl Betaine from Amazon should help, but there are other sites that sell this. http://www.soapgoods.com/Cocamidopropyl ... p-704.html

Don't use polysorbate with any foaming product. It is a foam suppressor in even small amounts. I discovered this the hard way...
Polyols such as propylene glycol also suppress foam.
The problem you'll have is that if you want a clear product, you will have to find a FO that will work. I tested dozens of FOs and only a few make a clear emulsion. For me, IFF's cherry worked great, but another cherry may not.
You should emulsify the FO first, then add the emulsified surfactant/FO mix to the main body. Not all surfactants are good emulsifiers. I use sodium cocoamphoacetate to emulsify the FO then add that to the primary surfactant. Sometimes, you may get a hazy result but then it clears later, so don't reject a mix immediately, wait a while.
