A cup can be either liquid or dry but they are a tad bit different.

I guess I'm not understanding where the confusion is... When you cook, how do you measure like flour or something? Like a cake recipe calls for 2 cups of flour, how do you measure that? That's how I would measure the oats. I'm sorry if I sound rude. That really isn't my intent. I don't use metric for anything really that I am aware of and I don't really cook either....

For cooking I use measuring cups. For soapmaking, I go by weight, except for some herbs or small add-ons like oats. I use TBs.

Ok. I see now. So your measurements are completely different than ours. But since you mentioned you occassionally use tablespoons, there are 16 tablespoons in 1 cup or I don't know if you use Imperial Tablespoons but then it's 13. Also, 1 cup of water is .236 liters. I hope that helps some. And there's certainly no ignorance on your behalf. Mine, yes... But that's ok. I've gotten used to it.

You're fun! Don't worry about your ignorance. you in US can count in either units,but i had no idea how much was what. And still feeling uncomfortable with converting.
I found myself how much cup of water weighs. So,that's what I was planning to apply. And yes, spoons can be good idea,too,thanks.

I was wondering whether the measurements I gave you earlier were correct too, but I double-checked them (I weighed both the water and oats again!) and it is correct. Good luck with your soap! Oat milk is very nice to soap with

Newbie still learning.....

You're most welcome, and thank you for the kind words! I didn't use any color, I think the soap was just starting to gel there, so that may be why it looks a bit darker. It's ended up a nice ivory color now.
