Teach Soap

So! Big day today! We had to sand and patch some spots on the floor where they had put these odd pieces of pine to fill holes (from the old laundry room plumbing) and we had to chip up some rotten spots by the door and fill those. They are drying now. The carpet is GONE!!!! No more smell, dirty, ugly, dark carpet! *happy dance* We also......

STARTED TO LAY THE TILE!

I took a picture of our progress so far, but first a reminder of the old:


And now the new! We only did 1 cut tile so far, didn't want to open a new box right before we stopped.

Yep! But it sure is great to have results of all that work! We decided to replace the old baseboards with new ones too, the old ones weren't all the exact same! Will be an entirely new room!

It is pre-sealed but I plan to wax it to seal the seams between the tiles so no lye can get in there should I ever have a spill.

But...but..but...what about Buttercup the corn snake??? That hooked me into the story. How did she cope? Where does she live now? What does she think about the new wall color? What about HER journey???

Butters is currently in the spare bedroom with my soap ingredient.. uh... hoard? She will be moving downstairs into our office. Here she will get more attention and be less out of the way. She also won't have to put up with smelly soaps, which can make her cranky. She does NOT like acorn harvest!

Ahhhh, good to know. Sound like Butters made out pretty well with the remodel.

Stupid floor. Stupid stupid floor!

The "handyman" the previous owner had "remodel" this room before was a dolt. He used cement to fill nail holes and seams in the subfloor. And whatever the heck he glued the vinyl down with a) didn't stick to the vinyl, it peeled right up, but b) made the floor a total nasty mess! We've had to get vinyl tile adhesive and glue down the last row we had done in the last post, because they kept popping up. And we had to get vinyl tile primer and roll it on the floor to help adhesion... but it looks like we will have to use the adhesive on the rest of the floor, which we wanted to avoid.

Stupid handyman!!! Grrrr!!!

Well, we finished on wall of cut tiles, just 2 to go and the closet. Will have to pull up at least one tile and glue it down, keeps popping up at the edges. Hopefully not too many pop up!

Ok, I'm all caught up on your project! How AWESOME, Hestey!!! Those blue walls go great with the flooring you picked, it'll be SO pretty when it's done! I'm so jealous ! I need to somehow motivate my hubby to help me sort out our garage so that I can have a soaping space too. Somehow I suspect it's easier to motivate a newly wed husband than a 10-years-later-and-apparently-I'm-stuck-with-you husband.
