They are actually pretty easy to pour from! I've had some experience with them helping an NPO with caterings. Not as clean pouring as a jug mind you, but about as clean pouring as a standard measuring cup.

Saw a 32-36 oz. stainless steel frothing cup (looks like a pitcher/jug to me). Was excited, until I realized that the shipping was almost as much as the item

. Definitely has given me some food-for-thought, though!

Great link! It didn't list sodium hydroxide but it did list potassium hydroxide. Strangely enough, all materials tested excellent with it except stainless steel, which tested as good. Weird. I use a stainless steel stockpot when I make liquid soap so it kinda made me wonder but no problems yet.

Just an update........the pitcher I originally asked about in regards to using lye DID indeed begin to get hairline cracks in the material. That sure didn't take long........

Hey everyone, just chiming in... I happened to have an awesome pitcher in my home before I started making soap...

A few years ago I went through a coffee snob phase, and had an espresso machine, and steamed my own milk, etc... (that got old FAST) I had a stainless steel pitcher used for frothing milk. It is large enough to hold the liquid and lye, and it is small enough that I can easily control the temperature (ice bath, etc). I checked on Amazon, and they are fairly inexpensive, around $15. http://www.amazon.com/Rattleware-20-Oun ... lk+steamer

When the lye and the oil are at the right temperatures I pour them into a glass batter bowl. So far it has worked out great for me.
