OK, Bramble Berry recently lowered the price on Kaolin Clay, So it got me thinking..."Should I start making soaps with Kaolin Clay?"

When adding Kaolin Clay, how much should I use? (per pound of oils/butters)
Is 1tbsp per pound enough? Too much?

Do I add the Kaolin Clay in at trace?

$2.40 for 12 ounces is a great deal!

I have never used soap made with Kaolin Clay (at least not that I know of), so I don't know what to expect (texture wise). Does it make the soap slimy feeling (like when making a clay pot, and you go to wash your hands, it takes a little more effort to wash the clay off)

Trying to get my next BB order together (thinking about getting a bunch of regular colorants, since I already have a supplier for Neon colorants), and thought I would add a few other things to try out/play around with.

I just found this link... I guess theres no wrong way to incorporate the Kaolin Clay, as long as it gets blended in!

I mix it with my fragrance oil before adding. It supposedly can help keep the fragrance from fading.

It goes in at emulsification in my shaving soaps. It's so gentle but really works. Funny but I never thought to add it to my "regular" soaps. Just remember that it is actually gray and plan your colors accordingly.

Does it make a large difference in shaving soaps? I plan to make some for my husband with green kaolin (I have green, red, pink and yellow, but no white LOL). I read that it makes the razor glide easier.

It does really help with slip, plus it's inexpensive.
