I can't seem to figure this thing out with the percentages of the amount of FO's that should be used in products.

I am making a body spray using a base. It says the FO or EO usage rate is 1 to 3%. If I am making 1 ounce bottles of this spray, how much FO or EO do I use? When I Googled 1% of an ounce, I got 0.1. When I multiplied 0.01(%) by 1(oz), I got 0.01. Does this make sense? Did I even calculate it correctly? How much FO does that mean I am to use? 1 ml? I am really stuck on dumb today!

0.1 would actually be 10%

0.01 would be one percent
0.03 three percent

It might be easier to measure that small of an amount in grams or mils, depending on your scale (not sure if you are doing weight or fluid ounces).
1 fluid ounce = 29.5735296 milliliters (1%= 0.295, 3%= 0.885)
1 ounce = 28.3495231 grams (1%= 0.283, 3%= 0.849)

I don't know for certain, but I would think that you would add up the total weight of all the ingredients and mutliply by .01. The answer should be the amount of FO/EO to use.
I don't have a lot of experience, but it seems to me that it would be easier to make the batch larger than just 1 ounce at a time, since a scale would have to be very sensitive/accurate to measure .01 of an ounce (although maybe you do have a scale like that......the one I have is a good scale, just not precise to that degree).
Let us know what you find out.....I'm sure I can learn from this!
