Wanted to share my Fresh Fallen Leaves experience!
I did an infusion of olive oil and and some old turmeric I had sitting around. Expecting a yellow-ish soap, I was going to use NG Banana Foster. Researched the FO on the NG site - oops, 5% vanilla in that one. Don't wanna mask the effect I get with the turmeric.
Plan B - use my sample ounce of Fresh Fallen Leaves FO - no discoloration reported.
Well - this is the first time using turmeric. Imagine my surprise when, after adding the lye solution, my batter quickly turns....
Bright Red-Orange. The color of.....fresh fallen leaves!!!!!
I am getting so much better at dealing with trace (this is batch #10 - shall I have a party when I reach an even dozen?) I no longer freak when I see light trace, fearing I have 40 seconds left to do what I had planned to do! Calmly divided out some to add some brown (Fresh Fallen Leaves!) The batter stayed at light-medium trace, and I did not rush while scooping the batter in. Even got some cocoa pencil lines in the bright red (Fresh Fallen Leaves!)
Should be interesting! How do you guys like this FO once its cured a bit?
