Teach Soap

So, I made this recipe
coconut, olive and palm at 30%
cocoa butter and castor at 5% and I loved this bar but thought I would try

olive 30%
palm and coconut at 20%
cocoa butter 8%
castor at 12%
I have read that too much castor makes a soft bar, and too much coconut make a dry bar!

I wouldn't go above 5% on the castor. I'd add the other 7% to the olive oil.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Your total % add up to 90 not 100.

I haven't gone above 10% on castor except for shampoo and shaving bars. For regular soap, I usually use 5%, sometimes up to 8%.

Or add it to your cocoa butter. Either would be nice.

I had a complaint when I dropped the % coconut oil below 30% that the bar 'lacked cleaning ability' compared with, say, Dove. No point in arguing with the customer that Dove is a syndet bar, but never mind. I always keep coconut at 30%; if I want a luxury bar I'll put in shea butter or coconut butter because they make for a harder bar, rather than upping, say, the avocado or olive. I'd like to try adding d-limonene to make a special cleansing soap (e.g mechanic's soap) but I haven't time at the moment.
