A friend asked me about making a body spritzer/spray so I've been trying to do a bit of research. It seems that most are just water or witch hazel based with a few drops of oil in them. But I haven't seen any recipes with a preservative. Wouldn't one be needed, since it is water based?

Yep, if it has water or any water-type ingredient, you're going to want to use a preservative. Otherwise you'll be spraying bacteria all of your house.

I wouldn't use Germall plus since it hasn't been approved for sprays or aerosols.

Are you going to be using polysorbate in your spray? If so, polysorbates can deactivate phenonip.

Is your optiphen just regular optiphen or is it optiphen plus or optiphen ND?

Regular optiphen isn't a broad spectrum preservative. So I wouldn't use that either

I'd go with optiphen Plus.

So is Optiphen Plus the answer to all body applications? What about for Hair Conditioner?

I'm too tired to look it up, but one of the preservatives is not suitable for spray on products.
