Teach Soap

I plan on doing some oil infusions today with paprika, turmeric, alkanet, and spinach powder today. I will be doing a heat infusion. How do i properly store them and how long will they be good for? Also will the spinach powder turn brown in soap?

I'm curious about this also. I have been told that if the infusion is in oil that is can be kept in a closed container at room temp, like the original oil.

it depends on the nature of your oil (Soja, Jojoba, rice bran, olive?). What is your oil? Our ancestors kept infused lard for at least 2 years. In any case you've to keep them in air-tight and light protected containers. In as small containers as possible so that the remaining of the oil has little contact with air.

I make sure to use oil infusions right away, so I only make up enough for what I need. Nasties can grow in oil, contrary to popular belief.

As for the spinach powder, I've used it and I got a light green that after about a month, the color was completely gone. I've heard that some others have had it turn gray from the start.

I am using olive oil

Olive oil has a pretty good shelf life. Just make sure that your herbs are dry and you should be ok.

I used all powders. Will use them within the next few weeks just didnt know if it needed to be refridgerated or not
