I learn so much when I can't leave well enough alone!

Today I had a pulmonary test and an EKG. Both are perfectly normal! They are sending me to a pulmonologist because they have no idea what is making me cough and have such bad chest pain. I go in on the 17th. Here's to hoping they can figure it out!

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Nope. The nurse practitioner thinks its asthma, but my pulmonary test say otherwise. Maybe my sinuses. They are also doing a sleep test because my husband says I snore too much! I never hear it, so I think he's nuts!

They gave me some cough suppressants at least, those should help a lot!

Just because the infection (pneumonia) is gone does not mean that the consolidation in the lungs has cleared up. I also wonder if that cough is causing spasms of the bronchial tubes... acts like asthma. Did they give you an albuterol inhaler or better yet a nebulizer? Did they suggest some guiafenisen (musinex)? Are you drinking in enough water? That helps more than most people know to liquify the secretions. Are you able to get some rest... your body will need it to heal... maybe the cough suppressant will help with that. You know moving to a new area you probably encountered germs that are all new to you... need to build up that immune system. Now I will sound like your mother... eat your veggies and fruits!!!!!!!! Hope you feel better soon.

Sometimes A Mistake is so much fun, You just have to do it again!

I've been coming here for 6 months every summer for a few years. But we had a flood in our bedroom last fall. Having a mold remediation company come to test the air, just incase.

I have salbutemol inhalers, they make it worse! Not sure I could do the nebulizer, masks make me panic! Will see what the pulmonologist says though.

I did pick up a humidifier; I find air conditioned buildings, like our house, very dry. I think that the dry air is making it worse. I'm used to a house that is between 20 and 40% humidity, it's 10 to 15% here.

I should eat more fruits and veggies! I've been slacking!!!!

I do after the steam has cleaned out all the goo. I breath better outside of the house too, almost no coughing until we enter a building with AC. Its the worst downstairs in our "suite", where we spend 99% of out time. But this room, the office, isn't bad. It also has no AC vents! Ralph added an ultraviolet cleansing system and electromagnetic filter to the air system for me so it shouldn't be dust or pollen, I'm suspecting its the dehumidification. Will hook up the humidifier today and see if it helps. I sure am tired of coughing!

Heather this may be a dumb question but do you smoke cigs? or have dental problems? like need root canals and such? becuase you'd be shocked at how much dental problems can cause health issues. just something I know from experince. My lifelong dental problems effect my heart valve and required heart surgery. my smoking cigs didnt help matters. I dont smoke anymore. and if I hadnt gotten my heart replacement valve fixed I wouldnt have lived much longer. its ot easy not smoking I try not to think about it. pleasze keep me imformed as You are very nice person and you're in my prayer.

I've never smoked and I have great teeth. I go to the dentist twice a year, kind of addicted to cleanings!

Melissa, I am so glad you were able to make the changes that you did! I have heard that nicotine is harder to kick than heroin!

Heather, they make nebulizers with a mouthpiece as well so you do not need to use a mask!

Ohhhh didn't know that! That is good news! Other good news: I slept 17 of the last 24 hours! I actually feel pretty good today. Seems my little humidifier is helping some! I may even make some soap today!
